Before India, YouTube had localised versions in 19 other countries, which includes Australia, Brazil, Spain, Russia, etc. "We are very excited to bring a local version of YouTube to India considering the passion of users here for music and entertainment," said Steve Chen, CTO and co-founder of YouTube. "For a culture that is steeped in video and storytelling, YouTube India will not only offer Indian users more relevant content but also provide a platform to share India's unique and diverse culture and lifestyle with the largest online video community in the world." According to Sakina Arsiwala, International manager, YouTube, the decision to bring YouTube to India was influenced by the fact that in terms of the user base, India registered one of the fastest growth, figuring in the top 15 countries from being in the list of the top 30 countries in one year's time. Arsiwala also sees a great opportunity in the increasing number of mobile users in the country.
