New Delhi, March 21: Chinese premier Wen Jiabao will arrive in India in the second week of April. According to sources, he will arrive on a three-day visit beginning April 10. His first stop is Bangalore where he is expected to have meetings with the captains of the IT industry before he flies to New Delhi on April 11.
"The visit was planned for late March or early April, but the premier has preoccupied throughout March," the sources said.
Both countries attach great importance to the visit and have agreed to work together to ensure that it leads to a "substantive outcome". In New Delhi, he will meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, external affairs minister K Natwar Singh, and other senior officials. Sources said apart from IT being on top of the agenda, boundary issue will be discussed.
Mr Wen’s visit is in return for then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s landmark visit to China in June 2003 that led to a marked upswing in bilateral ties.
