The official broadcaster of The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Neo Sports, is poised to narrow the bridge between cricket and entertainment by a bouquet of cricket-based shows.
Neo Sports and Neo Sports Plus, however, are not available from all cable operators owing to a dispute between Nimbus and Trai. The broadcasters have fixed the rate of these two channels at Rs 58.50 per household, but Trai ordered Nimbus to make it Rs 37.25.
Cashing in on this dispute, the site www.cricketnirvana.com is getting popular. Besides the matches live, the shows such as Dial C for Cricket, Sports Zone, Tour Diary, Tadka Marke, Baat and Bowl, Encounter, Ballebaaz, Jaya He and The Great Indian Run Chase are becoming household favourites.
"Cricket has become much more than just a game and is a part of the socio-cultural fabric that binds us together. Hence, we are organising a plethora of shows encapsulating various facets of the game. These shows will cater to all the entertainment and information needs of a cricket fan from the field to behind the scenes," said Mautik Tolia, head of programming, Neo Sports Broadcast Pvt Ltd.
"The spotlight is on great performances by different batsmen each week. Catch Dhoni's Dhamakas, Ganguly's Dadagiri, the Sabse Bada Khiladi- Sachin, Yuvi- The prince and Dravid-The Wall only on Ballebaaz," he added.
