The water level at Bhakra dam on Thursday crossed the danger mark as it touched 1,680.70 feet against its capacity of 1,680 feet. Owing to the inflow of 39,000 cusecs of water from the upstream, 36,142 cusecs of water had been released in Beas river, the government spokesperson said.

Other dams in the state too were brimming with water and mostly above danger mark causing concern of floods among the people. The spokesperson said that the Pong dam is presently holding 1388.62 feet of water against the capacity of 1390 feet. On the other side, over 33,000 cusecs of water from Harike dam and 33,453 cusecs from Hussainiwala dam is released into Sutlej River. The water level at Ranjeet Sagar Dam too is on the verge to cross the danger mark.

The water level on this day during the previous year was recorded at 16,81.08 feet. 36141 cusecs water was discharged from the Bhakra Dam against the inflow of 38,879 cusecs.

According to data released by the irrigation department, the water level at Pong Dam has touched the level of 1,388.86 feet whereas its capacity was 1390 feet. There was discharge of 610 cusec in Beas at Naushera Mirthal and 13750 cusecs in Dhilwan. Satluj also witnessed the discharge of 33274 cusecs from Harike and discharge of 36353 cusecs from Hussainiwala.

The water level at Ranjit Sagar Dam has touched 524.40 metre whereas its capacity was 527.91 metre.
