New Delhi, June 15: : Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs (JINSA) is planning a second trilateral US-Israel-India conference on the importance of cooperation in the fight against terrorism. The conference is tentatively scheduled for early next year.
A US-based military and security affairs think-tank had organised the first trilateral conference between American, Israeli and Indian national security experts in New Delhi earlier this year.
JINSA’s board of directors at its annual meeting held in Washington last week also endorsed the growing military cooperation between India and the US, and called for increased American business investment in India to solidify economic ties.
The think-tank has urged the governments of India, Israel and the United States to establish or further strengthen all forms of cooperation between the three countries in the worldwide struggle against terrorist groups.
JINSA called for India, as a democracy fighting its own battle with domestic terrorism, to formally recognise and publicly oppose the existential dangers facing Israel as a result of terrorism.
It is well recognised in Washington that its long-term strategic allies in the region are Israel, India, and (possibly) Turkey. The alliance with Israel is a pillar of US foreign policy, point out experts.
“And the trilateral alliance of the United States, India, and Israel, would form the edifice of a new international security arrangement in the region, and become an integral part of the global security regime, complementing the role of NATO and of various ad hoc ‘coalitions of the willing’,” say experts.
The United States and Israel have developed a very close and lucrative partnership for the past 40 years. The Israeli air force is almost entirely equipped with US fighter aircraft and has very early on demonstrated the superiority of US systems in the many conflicts it has been fighting against its Arab opponents.
India has also acquired several UAV systems from Israel, using them in various combat operations against Pakistan in the Kargil and more recently last year.
