Two men were arrested because of the incident. Peter Berdovsky, 27, and Sean Stevens, 28, pleaded not guilty to placing a hoax device and disorderly conduct. Interference hired the men to spread the devices around Boston.
Coakley said prosecutors were in discussions with attorneys for the men about how to dispose off the matter before a trial. Later, Boston Mayor Thomas Menino still took a hard line and was critical of those who second-guessed the city’s massive response. “Shame on them,” he said during a news conference.
Turner spokeswoman Shirley Powell declined to discuss the settlement. The company has not said if anyone inside the company will be disciplined.
In a joint statement, Turner and Interference said they are “committed to making any necessary changes to our internal processes to prevent similar incidents in the future.”
While Turner is paying for the incident, the attention from Boston provided massive amounts of free publicity for Aqua Teen. The TV show, which will be the subject of an upcoming movie, appears several times a week on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim.
