Tourism Min OKs Rs 3.47 cr for renovating tank

Porayar, December 29:: The Union Tourism Ministry has sanctioned Rs.3.47 crore for renovating the tank of the historic Karaikal Ammaiyar temple in Karaikal with a view to attracting more pilgrims to the town.

Speaking to PTI, Leader of the Opposition in Puducherry Assembly AMH Nazeem who has been fighting for renovating the temple tank for the past 10 years, said Deepa Laskar, Assistant Director General, Southern Region, Ministry to Tourism had informed him of the Ministry's decision in this regard.

He said the move would place Karaikal Ammaiyar temple in the list of pilgrim centres in India maintained by the Union Tourism Ministry.
