Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 4 : Toonz Animation’s 40-episode Freefonix is going on air in BBC channels, CBBC and BBC One from this week.
Freefonix is a new 3D CGI animated cartoon series produced by Toonz Animation India along with collaborators like Cinnamon Entertainment, Method Films, Isle of Man and BBC.
The plot features three mismatched heroes who form a band called Freefonix to safeguard the most powerful force in the universe - the 13th Note (an awesome force that can bend space and minds when the perfect sound is created.) - and save their world from a dark future that will be brought on through the teaming up of an evil force which calls itself VOX and Mya De Zya, her cronies the band Mantyz, fifty years into the future in the city of Los Bosmos.
It has a combination of classy storytelling, jazzy music and amazing animation, says P Jayakumar, CEO, Toonz Animation India, in a release, here.
Freefonix features some surprises like -R’n’B superstar Jamelia, Justin Hawkins, star Chico, cricketer Alistair Cook, actor Joseph Fiennes and musician Hayley Ecker. With a budget of more than 10 million pounds ($20 million), Freefonix is the largest commission by BBC for an animation. The scripts for Freefonix were written in Los Angeles and New York, voices recorded in Ireland.
