How did Mumbai Cutting happen to you?

I was approached for the film and I liked the idea for working for it because of its unique theme.

You have been a long time director. Do you see any change in the art of direction from those times to the present?

The art of story telling has changed. In these times there is lot of visual information these days. Cinema is now hundred years old. Now you need not keep the audience engrossed in the film.

The grammar of story telling is changing and people are ready to accept the changed grammar of filmmaking.

How has been your journey in Bollywood as a director?

It is a mix log. My life as a director had all the colours in it with all sorts of challenges, difficulties etc.

To what extent do you think films are a reflection of the times we live in?

Films change the society and society changes the films and this is the constant process.

Cinema and literature are two different modes of expression. How in your opinion do the two media influence each other?

Commercial cinema is not inclined towards literature.
