Tata Motors' executives on Monday inspected 1,200 acre of land at Warangal, about 45 kms from Hyderabad in search of new site for the Nano plant.
Medak district collector Peeyush Kumar, who accompanied the Tata team, said in Medak that 650 acres could be made available to the company immediately and the rest shortly. He said the government would start work on reclaiming the land from illegal occupants. The proposed site was well connected to 'Hyderabad-Karimnagar Rajeev Rahadari’, which was being expanded into a four-lane highway, Kumar added.
The Tata team reportedly did not spoke anything either for or against the Medak location and told the officials that they would get back to them after the Tata management deliberated upon various options. Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat are vigorously wooing the Tata Nano car project as its top officials are carrying out site inspections after the group exited West Bengal following political opposition.
