



Jamshedpur, May 23: About 20-year old issue of Tata Steel’s temporary employees was settled on Sunday following an agreement between the company management and Tata Workers Union (TWU) before Jharkhand labour Commis-sioner Nidhi Khare here.
As per the agreement signed by Tata steel managing director B Muthuraman and TWU president RBB Singh, all temporary employees eligible for cash option in lieu of employment would get a minimum of Rs 50,000 for 59-years of age to a maximum Rs 3,51,000 for 30-year olds, a Tata steel release said here.
Training and employment would be considered for only those who are matriculates and not above 45 years on the date of completion of training, the release said, adding such conditions would not apply to those who have already undergone or are undergoing training.
Those eligible for monetary compensation or training/ employment but are a party to any industrial dispute before any labour court, tribunal or statutory/non-statutory authority, would be offered the benifit only after they confirm their unconditional withdrawal from the said dispute.
Moreover, they would have to furnish an undertaking confirming their intent not to take recourse to litigation against the company in future for their regularisation on the basis of past temporary engagement.
