The Centre has asked the West Bengal government to take stringent measures even in block and village level to curb bird flu in the country.
"We have asked the West Bengal Government to take corrective action in every city and village," said Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar.
He, however, said the disease has not much affected India's domestic and overseas poultry market.
"There is no major impact on the market", Pawar said.
The West Bengal Government has already begun culling of birds in 105 villages in Birbhum district. Around 35,000 to 40,000 chickens have died in the district.
Similar operations are to be carried out in South Dinajpur district.
