Taiwan stocks rebounded 5.57 per centon Monday, their biggest gain in six years, following other Asian markets higher with Cathay Financial leading the rally after the US government seized control of troubled mortgage finance firms Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
The main TAIEX share index closed up 351.41 points at 6,658.69, shaking off a five-day losing streak to rebound from a 2-year low set in the previous session and mirroring strong gains in regional markets including Tokyo and Seoul.
