TVS Motor Company on Tuesday said it has recorded a decline of 5.44 per cent in sales of two-wheelers in December 2007 at 97,576 units, compared to 1,03,188 units in December 2006.
However, exports witnessed over 100 per cent growth at 14,402 units in December 2007, against 7,088 units in the corresponding period a year ago, a release issued by th company said.
During the month, motorcycle sales stood at 51,293 units, against 58,756 units in December 2006, while in the scooter segment, TVS Scooty sales recorded 14,568 units as compared to 16,616 units in 2006 December.
The release said the scooter segment was expected to witness further growth with the launch of TVS Scooty Teenz EV.
In December last, the company had launched the 125 cc TVS Flame, over which rivals Bajaj Auto had accused TVS of infringement of violation of its patent.
TVS Motors also plans to launch the Apache RTR EFI in the fourth quarter. With this, TVS Motor would, for the first time be offering Electronic Fuel Injection Technology in the 160 cc category.
