Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) plans to recruit 1,000 professionals for its ERP2 implementations. ERP2 is the next step in ERP (enterprise resource planning) and is a new focus for the company.
The company already has 200 to 300 professionals working on ERP and will be increasing the headcount to include 1000 more in the next 2-3 months.
A company official explained that ERP implementation did not offer industry-specific solutions. ERP2 has that added advantage. It offers 21 different industry-specific solutions. He says, “Knowledge of enterprise resource planning is important but not enough, knowledge about industry-specific solutions is important.”
Non-committal on the revenues expected from the focus on ERP2, the official indicated that TCS expects a fivefold growth in revenues from this. It plans to outsource some of the ERP2 practices of its clients to India.
