Attractive freebies and discounts being offered by retail biggies in the summer months of May and June, when school students are on a holiday mood, are likely to increase their sales by 40%. Delhi-based retail major, Vishal Mega Mart under its campaign ''Beat the Heat'', is offering 50% discount on purchase of beverages, juices, apparels, sunglasses and many more items. The retail giant is also wooing its customers by providing 50% discount on cookers and DVD players with 50 CDs of movies.
''The promotional campaign, which starts from May 17 and last for almost a week, will pull up the company's sales by 40%,'' Vishal Mega Mart, senior manager, marketing ( north zone) Pradip Mandhana said.
Sports lifestyle company Planet Retail Holdings Pvt Ltd is also of a view that various promotional campaigns which they have lined up for this summers at their Planet Sports stores will push up their footfalls by 30%. ''We are offering either T-shirt or a sandal free with the purchase of any 'Puma' item across various labels. Besides, we are also running a promotion wherein we are providing 50% discount on the purchase of 'Canvas' foot wears,'' Planet Sports chief operating officer Ravdeep Singh said.
''School vacations have begun and through these promotional offers we tend to attract school students who constitute a chunk of our customer base,'' he added. Apparel manufacturing and retail company Koutons Retail India's summer promotional campaign named 'Summer Carnival', which starts from June will provide 65% discount on its Charlie brand. Besides, the company will also offer special discounts in its entire Koutons range.
''We always try to pass on cost benefits to our customers. The promotional campaign for the summers will increase our sales by 50%,''company's chairman DPS Kohli said. M&B Footwear, a multi-branded retailing firm, is also geared up for consumer-centric promotion for the entire month of June across all its outlets and shop-in-shop formats. ''We propose to offer an attractive freebie for every purchase at our stores during the activity period,'' Vikas Bagga, vice-president, marketing, M&B Footwear said. Delhi-based home decor retail firm Elvy is also offering a free coupon money of Rs 500 on the purchase of products of Rs 10,000. ''Such kind of offers which we bring during summers helps us in increasing our sales by 20% ,'' company's managing director Lovy Khosla said.
