



Kapurthala, Nov 25: The Punjab government has chalked out a comprehensive plan to glorify the unrivaled sanctity and importance of Sultanpur Lodhi world-wide by bringing it on the international religious tourism map.
Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal made an announcement to this effect recently during a function organised to celebrate the 539th Prakash Utsav of first Sikh Guru Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, who attained enlightenment on the banks of Kali Bein rivulet (Sultanpur Lodhi) and sowed the seeds of Sikh religion.
Speaking on the occasion Badal said that Punjab Tourism Department under the plan was implementing Rs 3.61-crore project to promote tourism in Kapurthala-Sultanpur Lodhi tourist circuit and ecological restoration of Pavitar Bein project had already been expedited.
Reiterating the firm resolves of the SAD-BJP government Badal said that the state government was fully committed to uphold the Punjab's rich cultural heritage and legacy of high Sikh values in the state. The chief minister further said that keeping in view the high religious values of this holy town the state government had initiated a series of steps to develop Sultanpur Lodhi under the guidance of newly constituted Sultanpur Lodhi Development Board. He also informed that the urban infrastructure, health facilities, education infrastructure and road and transport connectivity of the historic town would also be up graded, which would further boost the religious tourism.
Also, Rs 4.66 crore would be spent to upgrade the water supply and sewerage network of this town, keeping in view the increasing flow of pilgrims to this town in near future. A multi- specialty hospital with ultra modern equipment with mobile vans facility would also be setup.
