Congress President Sonia Gandhi has been admitted to a Delhi hospital following "mild breathing difficulty" and a chest infection.
The 61-year-old UPA chairperson was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital late last night and was diagnosed with having chest infection, a hospital statement said. Her condition is stable now.
Gandhi was having "cough and mild breathing difficulty" when she was admitted, the statement said, adding that treatment has started and "her condition is better now".
However, there was no word on when she is likely to be discharged from the hospital.
"There is nothing to worry," sources at her 10 Janpath residence said. Her children Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka, who were away on a vacation, are expected back either on Tuesday or on Wednesday, they said.
Gandhi was suffering from mild fever and cold for the past few days, party sources said, adding that she, however, had presided over several party meetings despite being unwell.
During the last few days, she had participated in the meeting of senior leaders to introspect over the Gujarat poll debacle and had also presided over a meeting of the Congress Working Committee called to condole the assassination of former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.
She had also taken part in the foundation day celebration of the Congress on December 20.
The sources said unlike in the past, she did not go on a year-end vacation this time, as she was unwell.
