Contact Singapore , an organisation under the island nation's ministry of manpower that promotes working and living in that country, held a seminar on the second day of IIM-C's annual meet, Intaglio. Singapore is home to about 7000 multinational companies.
Contact's area director, Vimal Harnal, said, " Singapore is offering a lot of opportunities in banking and finance, bio-chemicals, electronics, and information and communication technology."
Harnal emphasised the huge opportunities in the creative media as web programmers, game designers and animators. He said companies like Disney, MTV and Lucas Films recruit heavily. Harnal said that on average a fresh MBA may be offered as much as Rs 3000 Singapore dollars.
In academic year 2006-07, around eight MBAs from IIM-C found jobs in various companies in Singapore .
This year, 15 students will go to Singapore for summer internships.
Jobs and internships are being offered by Development Bank of Singapore, Merrill Lynch, JP Morgan Chase and Company, Procter and Gamble ( Singapore ) Pte Ltd, Credit Suisse and Macquarie Group, among others.
At present, companies such as Tata, Satyam and Infosys have a presence in Singapore
