Linking the trust vote and serial bomb blasts in Bangalore and Ahmedabad that killed over 50 people, the BJP on Monday alleged that the explosions were part of a conspiracy to divert attention of the public from the cash-for-vote scam. The party, however, refused to name anyone, when asked whether the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre has any role behind the blasts.
‘‘The blasts are a conspiracy to divert attention from the cash-for-votes scandal. The incidents took place just a few days after the government won the trust vote in a shameful manner, BJP leader Sushma Swaraj told a press conference on Monday. She said the blasts took place in the BJP-ruled states and said it makes one to believe that there is something more than meets the eyes.
The BJP’s surprise move is seen as a tactic to corner the UPA, especially the Union home ministry, in curbing the ‘‘terrorist activities’’ within the country. The party has been demanding re-implementation of the POTA for effectively tackling the issue.
