Bhubaneswar, Feb 8: Infrastructure major Raheja group on Friday gave a presentation to the Orissa government to show its interest in investing in an IT park, a power project, and the hospitality industry in the state.
Group president Neel C Raheja and chief minister Naveen Patnaik discussed the investment proposal.
The group is looking for a 100-acre plot to set up a high-tech IT park with an investment of Rs 1,000 crore. “We may go for a bigger IT park with higher investment if we are given land,” Raheja told reporters. He said the park would match the standard of the group’s existing one at Hyderabad.
The chief minister reportedly directed chief secretary Ajit Kumar Tripathy to make arrangements for showing the group the plots of land available in and around Bhubaneswar for the IT park. The group, however, prefers a site near the Infocity of Bhubaneswar. Patnaik also urged the Raheja group chief to invest to create a cold chain in the state for preservation of perishable goods.
Raheja has business interests in hospitality and retail, besides infrastructure development like IT and warehousing.
