RSS condemns anti North Indian migrants rhetoric

Thursday , May 01, 2008 at 1042 hrs Ahead of the scheduled rally of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader Raj Thackeray on May 3, the RSS has unequivocally condemned the anti North Indian migrants rhetoric to create unrest in the state on the basis of language and region.
Without naming Raj Thackeray, who is expected to reiterate his stand against the migrants at the MNS meet at Shivaji Park in Mumbai, the RSS warned against parochial politics of some parties and leaders for short term political gains to the detriment of social harmony.
In an official statement issued by the chief of RSS Western Region unit Dr Ashok Kukde, the organisation stressed the constitutional rights of all citizens to move freely in all parts of the country.
"If people migrate to earn their livelihood, the remedy lies in removing social and economic disparities," the RSS said adding it is also expected of migrants to join the mainstream of local population.
The RSS also asked the media to refrain from giving too much publicity to the assertions of political leaders and parties which could disturb social harmony and create tension.

About 18 months back, 42 MLAs from Maharashtra, including seven of the Shiv Sena, went on a 15-day tour to Europe. Before they went on that tour, they told the public that they were going there to study their parliamenary systems. The tour included countries such as Italy, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Austria, France, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. First of all this tour was said to have been undertaken at the poor citizens’, the voters’ and taxpayers’ expense. It was to give the Maharashtra legislators, many of whom do not know a single word of English or the language of any other European countries visited, a first hand experience of the development scenario in Europe. Despite such frequent tours at citizens’ expense, MLAs all over India including Maharashtra have been behaving in the most unruly, undignified and unparliamentary manner in the state legislatures and outside for the past 60 years.

Bal, Uddhav and Raj Thackeray and Bajrang Dal's demeanour and behaviour should win them the most coveted ‘International Goondas of the Century Award’ because it include such ‘dignified’ and ‘democratic’ acts as riots, arson, assaults and murder to name just a few. The whole country knows that Shiv Sena and its offshoots have been behaving in the most un-parliamentary and undemocratic manner for the past 50 long years. There are countless number of people and organisations that they have threatened and harassed that if each one of these people were to give a full account of the very ‘civilised’ and ‘mannerful’ treatment meted out to them by the Shiv Sena, it will fill a big dossier of ‘interesting’ episodes that you can proudly present to the parliamentarians of Europe to win them some other award than the one already mentioned above. How is that they have been given permission to hold rallies only 2 months after they were banned from holding these rallies?

The RSS had always taken stand in the similar lines whenever some people tried to divide people in the name of region, language and language.If one were to go through the publications of the RSS or heard the speeches of its leaders during the Raj Thackeray's outburst against people from northern part, the RSS always maintained this stand that it is absolutely stupid if a citizen of india is not allowed to work or stay in any part of our country. I would also like to educate some of the readers that the RSS has no relation with Shivsena or MNS nor these region based organisation were ever said that they are inspired by the RSS.
