London, Sep 28 : The British Queen is said to be one of the fittest monarchs in the world. Now, she is planning to install a state-of-the-art gym at Buckingham Palace in what seems to be an attempt to keep her staff fit.
According to a senior Royal source, though Buckingham Palace has its Lifestyle Committee and a number of top-class sporting facilities, what it lacks is a gym.
“In fact, research into the issue was conducted by the Lifestyle Committee recently and they discovered that the top 100 FTSE (Financial Times Stock Exchange) companies provided gyms for their employees.
“The Queen prides herself on being a top-class employer and with more than 450 staff on her books needs to offer them the kind of perks that they would find at other large companies.
“She thinks a gym would be a very worthwhile addition to the palace facilities. The Queen is probably the best proponent of a healthy lifestyle you can find and she is confident that it will be well used,” the Daily Mail quoted the unnamed source as saying.
According to courtiers, the gym would be a “five star facility” boasting state-of-the-art equipment worth thousands of pounds and televisions on the walls. It will be located in a room at Royal Mews, which currently stables Queen’s horses.
The royal fitness suite will also be staffed by a personal trainer to teach the Queen’s servants and members of the Royal Family how to use the equipment safely and advise them on weight loss and fitness techniques, they said.
