: Pyramid Saimira Theatres is set to gain the most from several developments in the coming months. It has acquired 51% stake in Mumbai-based Dimple Cine Advertising (DCA), which is into theatre advertising and out-of-home-advertising. This would give it access to the pan-India presence of DCA.
With acquisition of UK-based Aurona Technologies, which is into developing platforms for games, content distribution for entertainment companies and software and e-learning solutions, the company plans to enter into the high-growth, high-margin animation and gaming industry.
Three major expansion plans will provide an immense enhancement on the company’s revenues in the coming months. First, its plans to enter into distribution of Hollywood films in India and in other countries and it expects to gain 4-5% market share of Hollywood ($50 billion market) in the next five years. Second, cashing in on its strong presence in the south Indian film industry, it targets to produce 40 films in FY09 in south Indian languages. From 655 screens, currently, it has a target of 1200 screens by 2009. Third, through its real estate subsidiary Saimira Realty in South India, the company plans to buy-out 100 locations, wherein it will operate and integrate malls, multiplexes, and hospitality. In Q3FY08 major revenue contribution came from box office collection (64%) and food & beverage segment(26%). It has reported 15.37% EBITDA margin (excluding other income) compared to 14.09% in previous quarter. Its PAT reported 479.79 % and 97.61 % growth (volume-based) at 29.87 crore on Y-O-Y basis and Q-o-Q basis respectively. Its theatre chain registered 5.16 crore footfalls during the quarter with average occupancy rate of 39.15%.
