Pune, New Delhi, Mar 27: The announcement of the Rs 850 crore relief package for sugar mills by Union agriculture minister Sharad Pawar even before getting a nod from the panel in view of the polls in Uttar Pradesh can invite ire of the EC. The decisions were taken at the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on March 24. But the government on Monday approached the EC for clearance to announce the package in view of the model code of conduct for assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh.
