New Delhi: India on Monday summoned Pakistan High Commissioner Shahid Malik in view of more evidence surfacing about the alleged involvement of Pakistan-based elements in the November 26 Mumbai terror attacks.

According to official sources, the external affairs ministry communicated to the envoy its concerns about the alleged involvement of elements in Pakistan in the multiple terror attacks in Mumbai.

However, Pakistan has denied any link and assured India that it will take strictest action if evidence is found linking Pakistani citizens to the blasts. Infact, New Delhi will also try to persuade the US to put pressure on Pakto come down heavily on terror groups on its soil, when foreign secretary Shivshankar Menon meets with the transition team of US President-elect Barack Obama on Monday.

Menon is expected to meet influential figures in the transition team that includes Wendy Sherman, the co-chair of the state department’s Agency Review Team, which is tasked with preparing policy and personnel for the soon-to-be-named secretaries.

The foreign secretary is also expected to meet under secretary of state for political affairs William Burns, who served as Washington’s chief interlocutor during the last lap of the India-US nuclear deal, an official source said.
