New Delhi, Jun 8: The crisis within the Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA) led by the DMK in Tamil Nadu has deepened with the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) continuing its open attack against the DMK over a lot of issues, both organisational and political.

The latest one between the two parties is over the fee structure of self-financing colleges, as PMK founder S Ramadoss alleged that the government led by

M Karunanidhi is ‘unfit’ to restrain ‘money-fleecing’ private engineering colleges. The Tamil Nadu government had recently increased the fees for management quota seats in the self-financing engineering colleges, inviting opposition even from the parties within the ruling alliance.

Ramadoss had also said the other day that the DMK is not consulting its allies on important decisions taken by the government. “If I pinpoint these things, I am being termed as betrayer. Do they want us to be support them blindly. Is it alliance dharma,” he had asked on Friday. He also said the DMK government had announced a hike in the fee structure for self-financing engineering colleges, without consulting its allies.

He had also threatened of launching agitations against the government’s decision to increase the fees. “Even as we were discussing the issue at a public meeting, the government chose to announce the recommendations of NV Balasubramaniam committee, which announced the hike. Why did not the government wait for the outcome of the meeting,” he added.

DMK chief and chief minister M Karunanidhi was also upset over the critical remarks of Ramadoss. Joining the issue, Karunanidhi had accused Ramadoss for “making it a habit to criticise his government on every issue”. He said on the private engineering colleges fee issue, the higher education minister had consulted the PMK leader.
