Kolkata, Nov 20: PDK Shehnaz Hotels Pvt Ltd, which has brands like Ivory and Go India restaurants, Shisha bar and The Platinum Lounge under its belt, is in an expansion spree in Kolkata as well as the overseas.
Ivory, a multicuisine restaurant in Kolkata and Singapore, will be expanded by 2010. "Two more outlets of Ivory would come up in Singapore and we are also looking for franchisee outlets in Dubai by 2010. Each restaurant would be set up at a cost of Rs 2.5 crore," said Arvind Bhatnagar, executive director of operations, PDK Shehnaz Hotels.
Besides Ivory, Shisha bar in Kolkata will also be expanded into a 7,000 sq ft nightclub, which will be the largest nightclub in the city. It will have an all-night dining facility.
"At present, Shisha is on 1,200 sq ft,"Bhatnagar said. The redefined look of Shisha will come up in February 2009, according to the executive director.
On cover charges, director of the group Nitin Kohli said: "It would remain the same, like Rs 500 on a Saturday night, and we are just giving our clients a redefined new Shisha." The investment involved for the expansion of Shisha is around Rs 2 crore. The target is not to increase the footfall, but to serve the same client base with something new, headded.
About overseas expansion apart from Ivory, Kohli said: "We have a restaurant called Go India in Singapore and would be expanding to Go India Express, a fast food outlet in the same country by March 2009. In India, we would be bringing Go India Express format in the second half of 2009. Initially, we would target six to seven metro cities." Each express format will be set up investing Rs 1 crore.
When asked about the turnover of the group last fiscal, Bhatnagar said it is around Rs 10 crore in India and is likely to increase by 50% this fiscal.
