Kolkata May 9: Pune-based Nira Valley Grape Wines Pvt Ltd, after stepping into Kolkata market recently, is planning to sell its products through 120 retailers and a number of clubs and hotels in the city.
"We are in talks with the primary five star hotels of the city," said Renshaw Dennis, eastern India divisional manager of the company on the sidelines of launching the new product, Celesta, in the city on Friday. It will be available in both red and white forms.
The company produces natural grape wine and supplies to some of the leading wine companies in India, he said. The price ranges from Rs 445 to Rs 465 for 750 ml. At present, the wine market in India is heading for one million cases by 2008. "The market in Kolkata will be 24,000 cases by 2008 and our objective is to contribute 10% to this growing cases in the first year, 20% in the second and 30% in the third year," he added. A case contains 12 bottles of wine.
The company recorded a turnover of Rs 5 crore in 2007-08 and targeting Rs 9 crore business by the end of this fiscal, said Sharad Gore, company director. The current capacity is around 16 lakh litre per year. Export to other countries is not altogether ruled out too. "Maybe two years from now we will consider exporting," he said.
