Pune, Feb 15 : Nanotechnology has reached the automobile accessories segment. Huper Optik International Pvt Ltd Singapore is bringing to India its nano ceramic technology in its sun control films. This patented technology developed on Germany is being positioned as an alternative to conventional dyed, metallic and powder coated window films available in the market.
“The nano-ceramic window films rejects more than 99% UV rays, 70% solar energy and were 100% dye and metal free,” Tan Kian Huat, director business development, Huper Optik, said Unlike conventional films, the nano-ceramic films do not succumb to fading, blistering, bubbling, cracking or peeling which is what I noticed in the cars enroute from the Mumbai airport to Pune, Huat said. He sees a big opportunity in the Indian market for this high end window film product.
Apart from the automobile segment, this product is also targeted at the building segment as it rejects head and reduces cooling load of air-conditioning and reduces power costs, Huat said. Huper Optik has got into a tie-up with Opulent Auto Care Pvt Ltd to enter the Indian market with its solar control solutions. S Sathyaprakash, MD, Opulent, said it was automobile OEM, Mahindra and Mahindra that was responsible for bringing Huper to India as it wanted to offer its customers better experience and to its dealers an opportunity to add value to their business.
Opulent is talking to OEMs to introduce these products through their dealerships. “Out of Rs 10 lakh vehicles sold in Rs 9 lakh will have window films. In the high end itself it is a Rs 250-300 crore market in India,” he said. Opulent expects this to be a Rs 8 crore business in the first year.
