NCCL Bags Rs 71 Cr New Orders

: Nagarjuna Construction Company Ltd (NCCL) has secured new orders aggregating Rs 71.54 crore from various clients. The orders including from Andhra Pradesh Central Power Distribution Company Ltd for Rs 20 crore for the erection and commissioning of underground cables in Hyderabad, Rs 21.70 crore from Karnataka Health Systems Development project for the construction of primary health centres under NABARD asistance and Rs 9.75 crore order from irrigation department for water supply project in Kurnool, said the company in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

CII Leadership Awards
Three companies were presented the CII Leadership and Excellence Awards in safety, health and environment (SHE) - 2003 at the valedictory session of the two-day competition organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry, Southern Region in Chennai. The winners are Ashok Leyland Ltd (Unit-II), Hosur; Brakes India Ltd (foundry), Sholinghur and TVS Srichakra Ltd, Madurai. Dr M S Swaminathan, chairman, Dr M S Swaminathan Research Foundation presented the awards to the winners. The award was given to the winners in recognition of their innovative practices in safety, health and environment measures, according to a CII press release.

State-level Bankers Committee Meet
The 99th state-level bankers committee meeting was held in Chennai on Wednesday. Organised by Indian Overseas Bank (IOB), the meeting was inaugurated by Mr V Gomatinayagam, general manager, IOB. The total deposits of banks in Tamil Nadu for the period October 2002 to September 2003 was Rs 92,078 crore, an increase of 16.3 per cent. In terms of credit deployment the aggregate bank credit amounted to Rs 75,815 crore for the same period, an increase of 28 per cent. The need to cover all eligible farmers in the Kisan Credit Card Scheme before the end of the fiscal was emphasised, according to an IOB press releease.

SBI, Bangalore Circle Sets Up Local Board
After a gap of two years, the State Bank of India, Bangalore circle has constituted a local board with members from the local industry. The local board members are Mr Madan B Desai, partner, Desai & Company, Hubli; Ms Priya Mascarenhas, director, Metters Private Ltd; Mr Prabhakar N Nayak chartered accountant, Udupi and Ms Sudha Raju, vice president, NIIT. The local board has been set up to facilitate taking faster administrative decisions, said a press release.
