Mumbai: From security beef-ups, cancellations of existing bookings to exit door shown to walk-ins is the scene at the city hotels in Mumbai.
While the Taj Mahal hotel and the Trident-Oberoi that came under the terror attack plan to beef-up security and resorting to cancellations of existing bookings due to obvious reasons, other hotels in city including Intercontinental Marine Drive are returning walk-in guests and are scrutinising every bookings.
“We will be need security experts to advise us,” said PRS Oberoi, chairman, The Oberoi Group at a late evening press conference at the Intercontinental Marine Drive. Further there was need to have security guards at critical places in the property like the front gate ‘armed’ and close circuit cameras (CCTVs) places on the roads, will be put this forth the government, he said.
Oberoi said that the company will take care of its guest and staff. “We will pay for the guests for two days stay in any hotel. We will compensate the families of the 10 staff members who lost their lives,” he said. With regard to the damage to the properties, he said, “We are assessing the damage of the Trident and The Oberoi.
From our preliminary assessment, the damage at The Oberoi appears to be much more than at the Trident. At this point, to is very difficult to tell you when we can re-open each of these hotels. However, our effort is to open both hotels as soon as we can.”
