Kolkata, May 9: Concern for Calcutta, a Kolkata-based NGO that organises activities on traffic safety and cleaner environment, is going to exhibit five films on traffic discipline with the help of Kolkata police in some of the movie theatres in the city.
"The 30-second films are almost ready and we will be exhibiting them in the halls next month," said Narayan Prasad Jain, president of the NGO.
"The films are made at a cost of Rs 50,000 and the traffic department of Kolkata police is writing to the authorities of the theatres for screening of the films," he said.
The NGO is also organising a three-hour seminar on awareness against the usage of plastic on June 04, which is supposed to be attended by the mayor of Kolkata.
"We are going to create awareness among people through the seminar against plastic which blocks the city's drainage system," he said on the sidelines of a two-day workshop on fair trade, environment and ethical business practices, in the city jointly organised by Fair Trade Forum India and Concern for Calcutta. It is based on the principles of fair wages, better working conditions, environmental sustainability.
