Senior BJP leader and state chief of party's Investor Cell Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal, on Wednesday alleged that Congress sold Kashmir Peace to save their minority government in center.
Justifying his allegation, Singh stated that Congress-PDP combine Jammu and Kashmir Government transferred nearly 40 hectares of forestland in Baltal area to the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) for 23.1 million rupees thinking to win over Hindus,
but when PDP saw two bitter factions of the separatist All-Party Hurriyat Conference (Freedom), hardliner Syed Ali Shah Geelani and moderate Mirwaiz Umar Farooq vowing to work together to resist the move and National Conference decision to join their foray, PDP immediately backed out from the decision.
Later, PDP disassociated itself on the very issue from the Jammu and Kashmir Government to win back their Muslim vote bank and withdrew support from the government stating that they were never consulted, he claimed.
But before Congress could do anything Left withdrew support from UPA Government at Centre and PDP knew importance of its lone vote and they negotiated their vote in favour of Congress led UPA
Government for the vacation of land allotted to the SASB, Grewal added.
That was why PDP, which withdrew the support from the Jammu and Kashmir Congress led Government on Land Transfer to SASB actually showed confidence in the UPA Government and voted in their favour, asserted Grewal.
He held Congress-PDP combine responsible for spoiling peace and tranquillity of the valley and demanded that the UPA Government shall relinquish the land to the SASB immediately respecting the feelings of Hindus and take on the likes of APHC for de-stabilizing peace in the state and fuelling anti-India campaign.
Grewal aggrieved that current impasse has brought the region to 1984 like situation wherein anything could happen and feared for the lives of innocent people which may become victim of grubby politics of Congress and PDP.
