The programme in environmental studies at Williams College is accepting applications for two post-doctoral fellowships in environmental studies, beginning July 1, 2010. Applications from candidates who have a PhD in hand by the start date or who have completed their PhD within the last five years will be accepted. Candidates will be appointed for a one or two year term and will carry a teaching load of one course each semester. The baseline stipend for these positions is $38,940 per year plus an allowance of $4,500 for research and professional travel expenses. These positions are made possible by a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Applications must be postmarked by December 31, 2009.

Macalester College, Minnesota
Macalester College is accepting applications for a two-year Winston & Maxine Wallin postdoctoral faculty fellowship from recent PhDs (within the last five years) who focus on the Islamic world. Candidates may come from social science or humanities discipline. The Fellowship will begin September 2010 and entails half-time teaching. Candidates should be interested in teaching in a rigorous liberal arts environment, and hold promise of substantial original scholarship. The fellowship includes a $57,000 salary plus benefits and funds to support research and travel. Applications received by November 15th, 2009 will receive first consideration. University of Cambridge, UK
University of Cambridge announced the Dr. Manmohan Singh scholarship 2010 offering £35,000 scholarship per student, for Indian students to read for PhD & MPhil degrees in science, technology, economics and social sciences at St John’s College, the college the prime minister studied economics. PhD students will be eligible for scholarships for up to three years with three scholarships already planned for the year 2010-11. Organisations like Rolls-Royce India, BP Foundation and others have agreed to sponsor the scholarships and the process will be administered by the British Council. A selection committee, comprising an appropriate nominee from each sponsor and a panel of academics and others selected by the college will be set up in India to make recommendations to the college regarding the profile of applicants. Applications are currently open and the closing date for the scholarships is December 15, 2009.
