New Delhi, Aug 7: India on Thursday expressed strong objection to reports that the Pakistan Senate had passed a resolution on the situation in J & K, charging that such a move amounted to ‘‘gross interference in its internal affairs’’.
We have seen reports in the Pakistani media that the Senate has passed a resolution about the situation in J&K. ‘‘Such a resolution amounts to gross interference in our internal affairs. The Senate should attend to issues where it has a locus standi,’’ external affairs minister Navtej Sarna said.
A Pakistan ‘Daily Times’ has reported that the Senate on Wednesday ‘‘regretted the recent reports of an economic blockade imposed by Hindu extremists against the Muslims of J&K’’ and voiced ‘‘concerns over attacks on Muslims and their properties by Hindu extremists’’. The resolution, moved by Leader of Opposition in Senate Kamil Ali Agha, regretted the recent reports of an economic blockade imposed by Hindu extremists against the Muslims of J&K.
