New Delhi, Dec 2: Observing that there was a shift from geo-politics to geo-economics in the world today, chairman and managing director Reliance Industries Ltd Mukesh Ambani said that economics is now the driving force and India has a crucial role to play in the emerging scenario.

About 15 years earlier people thought about financial crisis emerging out of Latin American region, and from countries in Asia. Nobody thought that the biggest financial crisis would come from the US, Ambani said at a session, 'The shifting power equation: implications for India' at the India Economic Summit.

Even in the time of crisis, the developed world is attracted towards India as there are lots of business opportunities here. “In a uni-polar world, the powerful countries are now thinking about the whole planet. Efforts are made towards lifting the quality of life and reducing disparity across the globe,” he added.

About the biggest challenge the country has, Ambani said India need to create 100 million jobs over the next five years. It needs partnerships and engagements from global funds, human resource to train manpower here.

"The country needs a unique developmental model, with participation from the private sector, to ensure that the asset we have in our young population could be utilised for country's alround growth," he added.
