Mumbai: Although no amount of financial help can actually replace the lives lost in the recent terror attacks in Mumbai, corporate India has begun extending help to relatives of the officers, soldiers and policemen who put their lives at stake to protect their fellowmen.
While Sahara India Pariwar has decided to pay per month an amount equivalent to five times the gross salaries of the personnel who sacrificed their lives, for the next 10 years to their respective families, entertainment & leisure company Country Club India Ltd has announced Rs 1 crore to the families of the martyred officers. The Saraswat Bank, meanwhile, said it will take in its service at an appropriate level, one member each of the immediate families of the police officers and constables "who laid there lives at the altar of the security of general citizens."
According to a statement from Sahara India Pariwar, "The nation has been outraged by the heinous attacks by terrorists in Mumbai, which has wrecked carnage of unprecedented levels, causing loss of innocent lives...As an expression of its emotional empathy and solidarity, Sahara India Pariwar has decided to pay per month an amount equivalent to five times the gross salaries of the personnel who sacrificed their lives, for the next 10 years to their respective families and if their children are not mature (after 10 years), then this shall continue until they reach 21 years of age. "
Meanwhile, Country Club India said that, "As a mark of deep respect and immense gratitude to the officers who laid down their lives for the country in the recent Mumbai terrorist attack...has announced a token of appreciation of Rs 1 crore to the families of the martyred officers." According to CCIL chairman Y Rajeev Reddy: “The country would forever remain indebted to these officers who made the supreme sacrifice for the motherland”.
Reddy pointed out through this gesture, CCIL salutes the valour, spirit & service of the heroic officers.
Saraswat Co-operative Bank, in a statement Monday, said, "While no help or support will ever alleviate the trauma of the family members of the departed souls, the Saraswat Bank hereby offers to take in its service at appropriate level, one member each, of the immediate families of the brave police officers and police constables who laid there lives at the altar of the security of general citizens and the security of all those who suffered the attack."...
