Hyderabad, Oct 14 : The National Aviation Company of India Ltd’s (Nacil) plan to set up MRO facility in Nagpur with EADS will dominate the agenda at the India Aviation 2008 conference. The conference jointly organised by the ministry of civil aviation and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry will be inaugurated at Begumpet Airport, Hyderabad on Wednesday.

India Aviation is the first ever civil aviation expo that has drawn the attention of enormous number of companies related to the aviation industry from across the world. With the presence of aviation majors, the US, being the partner country, the event will pave the way for India to become a major aviation hub in the near future.

The event will be flagged-off by the minister for aviation Praful Patel. This will be preceded by a fly-past by Surya Kiran of the Indian Air Force. Aero Club of India will have a display of para-sailing, para-jumping and hot-air-ballooning during the opening ceremony. Rare photographs dating back to the birth of Indian civil aviation in 1932 and models of aircraft used by Air India in the last 75years will be on display. In the event Airbus A-319 will arrive from Germany. Raghu Menon, CMD Air India, will take possession of the aircraft which would be inducted into Air India’s growing fleet. The arrival of the largest passenger aircraft in the world, Airbus A-380 from France on the on Thursday will be another keenly awaited moment of the show.

According to Dinesh Keskar, senior vice-president of Boeing (commercial, airplanes), said India had potential to buy 1,001 planes at an estimated cost of $105 billion and about 110 airplanes are slated for delivery in the next 10 years to Air India, Jet and Spice.

More than 200 exhibitors from leading aviation and allied industries from around the world are participating. Airbus, Boeing, EADS, HAL, BEL, Rolls Royce, Engine Alliance, Cessna Aircraft Company, Bell Helicopter, Textron, ATR, Bombardier, etc are some of the major exhibitors who will add glamour to this mega event. To add to the excitement and interest of visitors, especially the young enthusiasts three simulators are on demonstration by Jeet Aerospace, AP Aviation Academy and SRK Aviacom.

Major airlines such as Air India, Kingfisher, Jet Airways, SpiceJet, etc will demonstrate their profile and services in an area covering over 12,000 sq metre which also has facilities like hospitality chalets and air-conditioned pavilions. The...
