Chandigarh: Solar water heating system programme is getting popularity in Haryana. During 2008-09, the state has witnessed the highest ever installation of solar water heating systems of over 2 lakh litre capacity, which is 157% more than the previous years thereby reducing the peak load on the grid by about 2 mw and reduction in the emission of 3, 038 tonnes of CO2. Sumita Misra, director, renewable energy department & Hareda said the department is organising a workshop-cum-exhibition on “promoting development of solar water heating systems” for hospitals nursing homes and educational institutions the conference hall of HSIIDC, Gurgaon.
Vardhman grp’s expansion
The Ludhiana-based Vardhman group, worth $700 million, is set to further strengthen its domestic and international market with its new joint venture partner Nisshinbo Textile Inc, Japan, for making ‘world-class’ shirts. Nisshinbo is a major player in the textile sector, with comprehensive operations including spinning, weaving, knitting, finishing and sewing. The equity participation of Vardhman and Nisshinbo will be in the ratio of 51:49. The joint venture is currently being executed through a separate Vardhman Texgarments Limited.
Punjab lifts 139 L mt paddy
Chandigarh: Government agencies and private millers procured more than 139.06 lakh metric tonne (mt) of Paddy so far as compared to 130.96 lakh tonne procured last year. Out of total procurement of 139.06 lakh tonne of paddy, government agencies procured 136.03 lakh mt of paddy till date whereas private traders procured 3.03 lakh mt of paddy. Pungrain had procured 40.46 lakh mt whereas Markfed procured 28.08 lakh mt.
J&K cocoon output rises
Srinagar: Cocoon production in Jammu and Kashmir during the current year has reached 800 metric tonnes, up 72 metric tonnes compared to the previous year. "Due to the measures initiated by the government cocoon production has reached 800 mt, which is 72 mt more than last year", a spokesman of the state's sericulture department said.The price of cocoon is at Rs 210 per kg, which is an encouraging sign, he said.those connected with the trade are being provided Rs 15,000 for erecting tin sheds, in addition to 20,000 mulberry plants annually free of cost.
Spot bourse in Haryana
