



: Himachal seeks Israel help in irrigation tech
Jerusalem: Israel and Himachal Pradesh on Thursday agreed to strengthen economic and bilateral ties through technology cooperation and cultural exchange programmes. Himachal Pradesh chief minister Prem Kumar Dumal, who is here on a three-day visit to explore possibilities in the field of water management, said the state would seek Israeli irrigation technology. Dhumal will be touring upper Galilee region in the north of Israel to see techniques of horticulture. The climate in this region resembles with the climate in Himachal Pradesh and it is believed that Israeli technology can be replicated in northern Indian state.
Centre gives nod to 4 polytechnics for Punjab
Chandigarh: With a view to setting up of new polytechnics in the un-served district of the states, the Centre has approved four new Polytechnics for Punjab. Disclosing this here today, Punjab technical education and industrial training minister Swarna Ram said that these new Polytechnics would be established in districts Kapurthala, Bhagat Singh Nagarr (Nawanshehar), Barnala and Fatehgarh Sahib. A sum of Rs. 12.30 crore per Polytechnics would be provided by the Centre and where as the land and development charges would be borne by the state government.
Punjab constitutes state-level Agri committee
Chandigarh: The Punjab Government has constituted a State level Agriculture Mass Media Monitoring Committee with the objective to inform and educate the farming community to meet the emerging challenges using mass media. Financial commissioner development and director agriculture Punjab would be the chairman and secretary respectively of the committee.
