Icrisat MoU With TVS Institute For Dryland Devpt In Tirunelveli Dist

Hyderabad, March 31: The International Crops Research Institute for the Semi Arid Tropics (Icrisat) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the TVS Agri Sciences Research Institute of the TVS group of industries for improving agriculture in Tirunelveli district in Tamil Nadu.

According to the MoU, Icrisat will help the TVS institute with dryland agriculture, crop improvement and the use of information and communication technology for development. The collaboration will be for TCS institute's farm located at Ervadi village in Tirunelveli district and adjoining villages, said a release from Icrisat.

Signing the MoU with Mr Ashoke Joshi, advisor for the TVS Agri Sciences Research Institute, Dr William Dar, director general of Icrisat said that the MoU will provide Icrisat an opportunity to collaborate with a private sector in the dry areas of Tamil Nadu.

The two institutes will jointly develop detailed work plans and Icrisat will provide seeds of improved varieties, new tools and technologies of farm management, practices for certification trials and demonstrations, the release added.
