Hughes gets national long distance telecom licence
“Leveraging our new NLD licence, Hughes is committed to being a partner-of-choice to national telecom service providers and help them optimise cost-effectively their transport (communication) networks," Hughes Communications India (HCIL) chief technology officer KKrishna said.
He said the licence will allow the company to provide backhaul services to telecom service providers of cellular service like 2G, 3G and broadband, besides media and FM radio service providers.
Hughes is the world leader in satellite services and HCIL already has the licence for V-Sat services which are used for providing communication services like broadband and telephone via satellite link in rural and remote hilly areas where telecom cables or tower cannot be installed.
