New Delhi, Jun 30: In an effort to strengthen its position in the 125cc segment, the fastest growing category in the motorcycle industry, Honda Motorcycle and Scooters India Ltd (HMSI), on Monday, launched the 125cc CBF Stunner.
The bike, which will co-exist with the company's existing 125cc Shine, would be priced between Rs 47, 070 and Rs 51,655 and would help the company exceed its target of 10 lakh units this fiscal.
"We are expecting to sell around 80,000 units of Stunner in nine months to this fiscal, between July and March and this might help us to exceed our sales target of 10 lakh units for this fiscal," said NK Rattan, head (sales and marketing), HMSI. The seven lakh units of projected sales will come from scooters and the rest will be motorcycles. "We will also come up with two other mass models in this fiscal including a scooter. This would be over and above the high-end 1000cc CBR that the company is planning to launch in India this year," said Rattan. HMSI currently has a market share of 11% at 9,07,000 units sold in 2007-08 and this is expected to go up to 15% in two years after the company forays into the mass market 100cc segment by 2010.
