Chandigarh, Feb 27: Making efforts to carve a niche in the international animation arena, Chandigarh-based integrated media and entertainment company--Compact Disc India Ltd (CDIL) has got its hands full with big ticket investments pouring from Hollywood studios. The company, which is already working on projects worth $57 million in outsourcing and IPR divisions, has bagged another film animation outsourcing contract for producing a film on Taj Mahal valued at $15.70 million.

The contract has been routed through CDIL's subsidiary in UK called Media One Ventures with a Los Angeles-based studio. CDIL had recently secured $20.15 million contract with Los Angeles-based Motion Pixel Corporation, to handle about 90% of the production and post-production work of a 90-minute film called “soccer”, starring the football star Ronaldo.

Speaking to FE, Suresh Kumar Seengal, chairman, Compact Disc India Ltd said, “Since MediaOne Ventures Ltd was created in London to co-produce/produce films in which IPR will be retained by CDI, this contract has been outsourced by it to us in Chandigarh. The animation story titled—Eternal Love, will depict the true love story revolving around Taj Mahal. This Hollywood studio would simultaneously produce a live action-packed feature film and a musical drama on Taj Mahal as well for Broadway.”

Seengal further added, “The script is written by Vipen Kapur, an eminent corporate executive and we have got the first copy. The production is likely to begin April onwards and the film is slated to be complete within 18 months. About 250 animation designers will work on this film in our newly set up studio in the Special Economic Zone at KINFRA Film and Video Park, Kazhakuttom, Thiruvananthapuram.”

CDIL is also gearing up to announce a new project worth $40 million shortly. Titled—Playing with Enemy—will be a World War II Drama, representing a story of a broken, down-on-his luck baseball player who finds redemption in teaching German POW's how to play ball.
