Kolkata, Jun 9: Bengali telefilms are getting popular, and footfalls in various auditoriums showing those movies testify to that. According to Arin Paul, president of the Bangla Telefilm Club, the turnout figure is reallly impressive.
The Bangla Telefilm Club, the first-of-its-kind in India, was formed a year back with the purpose of popularising Bengali telefilms. "We felt that people should be given opportunity to watch telefilms which they missed on TV," Paul said.
"The BTC targets to increase telefilm viewership. It intends to provide an interactive platform between the TV industry and its viewers. It also aims to popularise Bengali telefilms all over the world, thereby acknowledging the good work of the Bengali TV fraternity, Paul said. At present, the BTC is showing one film per month.
The BTC, however, is a little worried over funds. According to Paul, Sangbad Pratidin, Radio Mirchi and a few associates extend their patronage. A nominal amount also comes from membership fees.
Bengali channels ETV and Zee had telecast some 90-minute telefilms and all of them achieved impressive TRPs. Now, only Tara Muzik shows a 75-minute telefilm on every Saturday at 7.30pm.
