Easy Bill, the Hero group’s consumer retail-based bill payment service, has announced a tie-up with power distribution major Reliance-owned BSES to accept bill payments from the latter’s customers in Delhi. BSES has approximately 18 lakh customers currently in Delhi. Customer who pay BSES electricity bills through the Easy Bill service will be provided with an authorised BSES receipt and charged a service charge of Rs 5 per bill.
“With BSES aligning with us, we are now collecting bills of almost all basic utilities in Delhi,” said Easy Bill chief executive officer Rahul Munjal.
Easy Bill currently operates out of 450 retail outlets in Delhi and plans to have about 850 in total this fiscal after it expands to Mumbai, Bangalore and Ahmedabad in the next few months. The company already has bill payment tie-ups with cellular operators and NDPL.
“This is a real synergy. Customer orientation is a real need in the utility sector. The orientation is a very focused today towards consumer needs,” said BSES chief executive officer Rakesh Aggarwal.
In Delhi, Easy Bill claims to have a 7-8 per cent market share in e-bill payments in the Rs 160 crore market. By the end of the fiscal, a market share of 10 per cent is being eyed, Mr Munjal said. The company is also looking at offering bill payment services for insurance and credit cards and is in talks with various companies in these two segments for possible tie-ups.
