Haryana ties up for 1,320 mw of power

Chandigarh, Jul 23: The Haryana government on Wednesday took an important step by tying up 1, 320 mw of power required to meet with the short fall of 4,000-5,000 mw of power likely to be faced by the state by 2012.

Announcing this , chief minister, Bhupinder singh Hooda said China & Light Power Ltd. (CLP) would be the first Independent Power Producer (IPP) in the thermal sector in Haryana, selected on the basis of competitive bidding mechanism. He said the finalisation of the tariff for setting up of 2 x 660 mw super critical technology coal- based thermal power plant in Jhajjar district was taken through the process of transparent competitive bidding. The entire process including, the request for qualification and the request for proposal documents, were duly approved by the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission as envisaged under the Guidelines for Procurement of Power, 2005 and the National Tariff Policy, 2006 of the Government of India.The chief minister stated that the process for procurement of power under case-2 was initiated by issuing the RFQ on 30 May 2006.
