: Ash a.k.a. Aishwarya Rai is said to have visited this salon. Other regular visitors include industrialist Anil Nanda and Ritu Nanda, entrepreneur Navin Ansal, television actress and former Miss India Gul Panag, model Jas Arora, novelist Arundhati Roy, fashion designers Ritu Beri, Ritu Kumar and Rina Dhaka, lawyer Kapil Sibal and heart specialist Naresh Trehan. Indeed, the Jacques Dessange salon in New Delhi’s New Friends Colony has a client list that boasts the who’s who from the world of business, media, literature, fashion and television.

Entrepreneur and painter Satish Gujral’s son-in-law Navin Ansal who is a partner at Paradox One situated in New Delhi’s fashion bistro 1 MG Road, is a Jacques Dessange regular. “The salon satisfies my idea of a stylish and sophisticated hair cut,” he reasons. Fashion designer Ritu Kumar, another Jacques Dessange regular also echoes similar sentiments. “All the hair dressers and the hair stylists know their job and the salon is of international standards. Moreover, this is the best place to go in for special treatments and proper haircuts and styling,” gushes Ms Kumar.

This Parisian salon started its operations way back in 1956 in the Champs Elysees roundabout in Paris. Over the years, Jacques Dessange has been the official hairstylist to Hollywood stars such as Catherine Zeta-Jones, Sharon Stone and Nicole Kidman and there are 700 Jacques Dessange salons in 38 countries across the globe. The chain employs 6,500 people worldwide.

In India, there are two Jacques Dessange salons—one in New Friends Colony, New Delhi and the other at Taj Mahal Hotel in Mumbai.

Lifestyle store Ravissant is the exclusive master franchisee for Jacques Dessange in India. The salon in the Capital is spread over an area of 4,000 square feet and boasts of a client list of 1,600 people that include the creme de la creme of Delhi’s society.

Ravi Chawla of Ravissant says that at Jacques Dessange the goal is to treat every customer like a star! “This will be our differentiator, this sentiment that will set us apart. It’s our endeavour to transcend hair and beauty care and create a luxurious indulgence for all senses,” he adds.
