Kolkata, Nov 25: Hewlett Packard (HP) India is developing technology for local users with a global marketing reach. It is planning to achieve this through its Bangalore-based industrial lab, using the innovative strength of the Indian academic community.

HP Labs India has decided to look at new opportunities with Indian universities and research institutes.

HP’s plan is simple: tie up with the best Indian universities in specific areas of strategic research which would feed the company’s industrial research lab. This would lead to the development of products for end-customers. The ‘Made in India’ product would serve both Indian and global markets.

HP spends 4% of its revenue on research and the budget for India has gone up, according to Ajay Gupta, director of HP Labs India.
